It's a Southern Thang! Come out to the Lowcountry District's Fall 2025 Camporee. We are set for check in at 3:00 pm Friday September 19, 2025 at Sergeant Jasper Park. The Camporee will extend to 11:00 am Sunday Spetember 21, 2025.This event will focus on Scout Skills, Orienteering, Wilderness Survival and fun! We're looking for who makes the best sweet tea and who shines in their Southern cooking skills. Other ribbons to be earned for "A Florida Man", Alabama "Rub a Little Dirt In That", Carolina "Find it Round Yonder", Georgia "Close that Gate" and Tenessee "Red Neck Log Cabin." Join us for a heaping good time!
The theme for the weekend will be Southern culture. Feel free to dress the part (except when Class A is worn). We are looking forward to a weekend of fun, fellowship, and some friendly competition!
Requirements Covered
Orienteering: 1, 2, 3(a, b), 4a-f, 5, 7a(1 course)
Wilderness Survival: 1a&6, 8
Tenderfoot: 1b, 4a, 4c, 5a
Second Class: 1a, 3a
First Class: 1a (1 troop activity), 3a-d
Second Class: 1a, 3a
There are opportunities for Scouts to complete other requirements during the Camporee. Please notify the Camporee Chairman if you have a Scout that would like to work on other requirements for ranks or merit badge requirements such as:
- Communications 8 (interfaith worship service or run the Campfire program)
-Second Class 8a Flag Ceremony
-Life Rank: 6a, d, h
Patrols are encouraged to dress the part in their version of
Southern or redneck attire.
"It's A Southern Thang" is based on the modern-day South. This here isn't the
time nor place for bringing up the war of Northern aggression or personal or family notions regarding that event, nor any paraphernalia that would bring about hurtful feelings. We are one great nation with lots of great folks coming together for a good time!
